Easy Tomato Sauce Recipe

I live in the Pacific Northwest and when the cold and the rain start seeping through your layers and sinking into your bones there’s nothing more satisfying than a bowl of pasta.

Even after a long day at work or running around chasing the kids, this meal is a quick and easy alternative to take-out.

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Put pasta in pot. Cook pasta for 8-10 minutes or until al dente. Mix in tomato sauce. Serve.

Done and done. Put the kids to bed. Grab a glass of wine and proceed to obsessing over your fantasy football lineup.

Oh wait – I got ahead of myself. First make sure you have dry pasta in your pantry. Oh and have a killer tomato sauce ready to go in your fridge.


1 Onion

2 Teaspoons of red pepper flakes

1 tablespoon of minced garlic

2 496 ml cans of crushed tomatoes

0.5 cup of fresh basil

4 tablespoons of olive oil

1 tablespoon of butter

salt and pepper to taste


Chop and sauté onion, garlic, red pepper flakes in olive oil in a giant pot over medium heat

Add crushed tomatoes

Add basil leaves

Turn down the heat, leave it alone for an hour and a half and stir occasionally

Put it in a mason jar and keep it in the fridge. Now you have delicious tomato sauce handy for quick meals. It tastes great with pasta like I said earlier or heat up a few tablespoons, toast a slice of bread and top it off with a fried egg for an awesome breakfast.
